![]() ![]() If you need help with anything about the setup of Emby, let me know. If you do select to Stream you can also set the connection speed in the Emby add-on for smoother playback if the default is not where you want it to be. ![]() ![]() If I sit at BGRSVR-V, then I can run the front-end and watch Live TV. MythTV is a Free Open Source software digital video recorder (DVR) project. My setup is:- BGRSVR-V - MythTV Backend hosted on Ubuntu 8.10, IP address is 10.0.0.5 BGRMEDIA01 - MythTV Frontend running on Suse 11.0 IP address is 10.0.0.100. Emby Server has been developed for the Windows, Linux, OS X, and FreeBSD. The server uses more resources, but I am guaranteed great playback. My problem is with the running of MythTV front-end from a 'remote' machine. I prefer HTTP streaming on all of my devices. Hard wired computers however can do either with smooth playback. With HTTP streaming the server detects the speed of the connection and transcodes accordingly to offer smooth playback. Again you will need to run mythtv-setup and go though. On the backend, you will also need to run the Mythbuntu Control Centre and activate the mythtv service (allowing remote machines to connect to this backend). (username should be mythtv, password will be something that was generated). MythTV can be set up on a variety of Linux distributions and also on Mac OS X. When selecting Direct play the video/music buffers every few seconds. This will be located in the /etc/mythtv/mysql.txt file. Attach or pastebin the log for the most recent (not the whole thing) backend. and expect a (good) response ending with: PORT STATE SERVICE REASON. HTTP Streaming will transcode the file on transfer for smoother playback on slower connections.Į.g My setup, I have a raspberry pi 2 running OpenELEC and the Emby app on my Wifi connection. answering: nmap -p 3306 -reason yourBackendHostNameOrIPaddress. The only difference is direct will not transcode the file on transfer which can cause issues on slow Wifi connections at home or slow connections on the internet coming back to the server. Network Paths can help achieve this by mapping a path on the server to a network path that can be accessed by other devices. Streaming and direct work fine with Kodi. By allowing Emby apps direct access to media folders on the server, they may be able to play them directly over the network and avoid using server resources to stream and transcode. ![]()
